Giant Rock
Giant Rock, located in the Mojave Desert in California, has a rich history with the Native American tribes that once inhabited the area. The rock was considered a sacred site and was used as a meeting place for tribal leaders.
In the 1930s, a man named Frank Critzer began living underneath the rock, claiming to have discovered a vein of gold. However, he suspected of being a German spy and died in a mysterious explosion.
In the 1950s, George Van Tassel, a UFO enthusiast, began holding annual conventions at Giant Rock, claiming to have received messages from extraterrestrial beings. He even built a dome structure nearby, known as the Integratron, which he believed could rejuvenate human cells.

Today, Giant Rock sits in a state of disrepair, with litter and broken glass scattered around the area. The lack of respect for this sacred site is a reflection of our society's disregard for the environment and history.
As a photographer, I aim to capture the beauty of Giant Rock while also highlighting the damage done to it. My photos of the graffiti-covered rock at first light serve as a reminder of the need to preserve and protect our natural and cultural heritage.
